”The past and the present, the heritage and the new idea came together”

The Chair 14, which has been in the Ton company logo for twenty years is the unifying element of Ton's entire presentation at Salone del Mobile. At booth Hall 09 D0204, you can see Chair 14 dressed for the future by Swedish designers Claesson Koivisto Rune, as well as its artistic rendition in the work of Czech designer Jiří Krejčiřík titled Ode to Chair 14. We thus demonstrate that even a model decades old can be an inspiration for contemporary designers.

“My Ode to Chair 14 revives the iconic Chair 14, which to me embodies the very essence of Ton. It has been on the market for over 160 years and its morphology proves that Ton are masters of the bending technique. That's why the bent wooden circles are the central element of my design. I thought of Ode to Chair 14 as a sculpture. No new mold had to be created to make this chair-object, as I intentionally created it from components and molds already in Ton's production. In this way, too, the past and the present, the heritage and the new idea, came together, ” said Jiří Krejčiřík.

Additionally, the entire booth will be adorned in new brand colors inspired by the factory in Bystřice pod Hostýnem. The booth will, as is customary for Ton, be conceptually rich and sustainable, as the typological concept from last year has been utilized. It was completely designed by Slovakian designer Zuzana Piliarová, as well as the company new colour visual.

Visitors will learn about the brand's history, which dates back to the 19th century, at the History wall. The Hero wall will then showcase the brand's most famous products and the visual embodiment of the brand book, which can also be viewed at the booth. This product is an artistic representation of the brand's essence, which will stick in your mind with its harmonious presentation.
